1.Make sure the sock is in direct contact with the floor and liquid
Absorbent socks work best when they have direct contact with the floor and the spilled liquid that needs to be absorbed. It is therefore important to make sure that all loose absorbents, rags and debris are cleared from the floor surrounding a spill or around leaking machines before you use your absorbent sock. Any material still on the floor will prevent the sock from moulding properly to the floor and may cause liquids to seep through and spread further. Good surface contact can also be achieved by making sure that the filler is evenly distributed throughout the sock. As absorbent socks are not filled to full capacity it is easy to do this by simply holding the sock at each end and shaking the filler throughout the sock before you place it around the leak or spill.
2. Use them around areas where other absorbents may not work
Absorbents socks present an ideal solution for absorbing leaks in difficult places such as machines bases, ledges and along drip pans as well as containing and absorbing liquid spills on floors. Using them in hard to reach places will enable you to capture leaks before they have the chance to spread and reach walkways, and will help to make your facility look cleaner and more professional. Other absorbents may not fit or work as well in these tight spaces so it is best to use your absorbent socks in these situations so that they are being used in the best way possible.
3. Dispose of socks properly when they are fully saturated.
To get the most out of your absorbent socks you should always make sure that you use them to their full potential and dispose of them properly. You will know when it is time to replace your absorbent socks when you see puddles of liquid forming around them or passing underneath. When you see this happening you can simply just pick up the socks and replace them with new ones, enabling easier and less messy clean up. This will prevent the liquid from spreading and potentially causing damage to inventory, the environment and posing a slip hazard to employees.
