Any Home Office Should Benefit From The Okidata C5100 Printer

The color and monochrome black-and-white Okidata C5100 printer using target="_blank" Okidata 42127401 yellow toner is made to work both as a standalone and as a networked workgroup unit. It's also been designed by its maker to work well in a small home business environment, able to print out comprehensive proposals, presentations and other graphics-rich documents with ease. It can currently be found for between $380 and $450 dollars, refurbished.
When it comes to the speed of the printer, the target="_blank" Okidata 5000 series toner performs at a high level in both monochrome and color modes. Monochrome pages will emerge from the printer at over 20 per minute while this particular Okidata is able to put out 12 pages per minute of color product. This last is actually a very high level of performance when the printer's overall price is taken into account.
The C5100 can also hold up to 400 sheets of paper in two different trays (one is a manual feed tray, while the other is a standard version). Optional trays can increase the storage amount to over 900 sheets, by the way. In addition, this unit can also perform double-sided printing when it's equipped with a duplex unit that's available as an optional accessory.
It's obvious that the manufacturer built this printer to be able to work well off of a number of different Windows operating systems. Normally, it will make use of the PC it's hooked up to as a host server to process print jobs and then put out product. However, it also comes with a network capability, which means that a number of different users will be able to access the printer when required.
Because this is a color printer, four different cartridges will be needed; one of black, another of yellow, still another of magenta and one more of cyan. The printer, though, is an able performer even if one of the color cartridges runs dry. Keep in mind that color printers tend to come with higher-cost cartridge sets, and the C5100's will start at $150 and go up from there. They do last a long time, fortunately.
Connectivity with the C5100 is also fine enough. It comes with an Ethernet 10/100 Base-TX port, as well as a modern USB 2.0 interface. It should be fairly simple to take the printer, then, and connect it to a networked workgroup or a single PC and in fairly rapid fashion, to boot. Okidata improved this printer over its predecessor printer by adding twice the RAM and processing speed.
When it comes to those to capabilities (RAM and processing speed), the memory that comes standard with the C5100 is a more-than-adequate 32 MB. This can be upgraded all the way to 288 MB, which should be more than sufficient for most any network. Additionally, the 200 MHz processor will be able to take in many tasks and then turn them around with little trouble or delay.
