Dish Network On A Dime

By: Frank Bilotta

Times are tough and money is tight. Even if you have extra money today, its difficult to let it out of your hands not knowing what tomorrow will bring. These days, we seem to be constantly walking on eggshells with our finances. We calculate our bills and try our best to come up with a budget that works for us and every week that goes by brings yet another budget. Week by week we try to decide which luxuries we can afford and which ones we can live without. Many people question, if I can barely afford my rent or mortgage, why should I spend the little amount of extra money I have on TV and Internet? The answer is, because you deserve it!

It is not always easy to admit to ourselves that it is okay to be entertained. We put everything we have into our professions, our children, and homework, housework- you name it. It seems that many of us are forgetting about ourselves. We have learned to take responsibility for our own fate and have mastered the art of juggling a million tasks at once, just to keep the boat afloat. The truth is it that its tough to be as productive as we need to be if we dont allow ourselves a little enjoyment and down time every now and then.

I chose to get rid of my money-guzzling home phone and I put the money I was wasting into standalone DSL for half the price. I took the remainder of what I was spending on my home phone and upgraded my cell phone. I did plenty of research on what I would be able to afford for TV because the DIRECTV service I had before was too expensive. The funny thing is I would get fliers for Dish practically every week in the mail and I always discarded them assuming that the prices were too good to be true. After plenty of research, I realized I was missing out on television all this time for no reason.

I originally set up the service with Americas Top 250 package simply because I was not going to order TV service without Investigation Discovery. Im saving $15.00 every month for a year as a first time customer and Im not spending as much money at the video store. Packages start as low as $24.99, so I knew Id be able to downgrade in the future should my budget get tighter.
